Please note, I am currently at capacity and will not be taking on new psychotherapy clients until next year (2026).
I am a clinical psychologist and researcher based in Cape Town. I approach mental healthcare from an affirmative stance, utilising an identity-focused, trauma-informed, and intersectional feminist framework. My poespas (or ‘eclectic’) method integrates psychodynamic therapies with social justice, emphasising the importance of understanding people within their unique social contexts: the personal is political. I use an intersubjective and relational perspective, recognising the mutual and dynamic relationships that shape identity and well-being. As a trans, nonbinary person, my identity is integral to my work, providing a unique and empathetic perspective that informs my research, advocacy, and teaching. I am dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA individuals, helping those who find themselves on the margins of the cis-heteronormative institution to feel accepted and appreciated.

Embracing Diversity, Upholding Rights: A South African Position Statement on Evidence-Based Care For Transgender and Gender-Diverse Young People
As anti-gender movements continue to spread misinformation and create hostility, healthcare providers committed to supporting transgender and gender-diverse young people with affirming, developmentally appropriate, and accessible care. We developed a position statement which reaffirms South Africa’s constitutional and legislative commitments to equality and dignity, urging all sectors to protect the rights of these young people.

Take Action Against Conversion Practices
Conversion practices, often referred to as ‘conversion therapy,’ are interventions aimed at changing or suppressing an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity. These practices are based on the false premise that being LGBTQIA+ is a mental illness or moral failing that needs to be ‘cured.’ These interventions can lead to severe psychological distress, including depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. They pathologise queer people, treating their identities as disorders or sins which not only reinforces harmful stereotypes but also perpetuates stigma and discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community.
Conversion practices have been widely discredited by major health organisations worldwide. I am involved in efforts to eliminate these practices across Africa. One significant initiative is the Johannesburg Declaration Against SOGIE Change Efforts and Conversion Practices. This declaration is a collective stand against any form of intervention aimed at changing or suppressing an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
